Dawoud & Dawoud Law Firm is hosting the panel "Energy Disputes: From Investment Arbitration to Commercial Arbitration" at Egypt Arbitration Days 2026, on Thursday, 15 October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Dr. Nabil Elaraby Auditorium of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA).
The session examines how energy disputes are moving from investor–state treaty arbitration into commercial arbitration under power purchase agreements, gas price-review clauses, EPC contracts and concession arrangements, and what that shift means for investors, state entities and their counsel. Particular attention is given to the Egyptian and wider MENA context, including arbitration in administrative contracts, the role of state counsel, and enforcement against state-owned parties.
The panel is moderated by Shereen Dawoud, Managing Partner of Dawoud & Dawoud Law Firm, who also speaks, and brings together Amal Bouchenaki, International Partner at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer; Counsellor Fatma Fathy Khalifa, Senior Counselor in the Foreign Disputes Department of the Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority; and Mostafa Elkaliouby, Director for the Middle East and Africa at the International Valuation Standards Council.
The session is in English. Registration is through the Egypt Arbitration Days calendar.
